SERVICE ALERT: Storm conditions are impacting collection routes throughout Washoe County (including Reno, Sparks and Incline Village), and Storey County. Some routes may be reversed to allow roads in higher elevations more time to clear as daytime temperatures increase. This means your driver may arrive earlier or later than usual on your regular collection day. Thank you for your understanding as our drivers slow down for safety in winter conditions. Go to the My Account tab at to sign up for text and email service updates.

Do I need to rinse out my recyclables prior to placing them in my recycling cart?

Food and liquids spoil the recyclability of paper and cardboard. No liquids or loose food can be placed in the recycling cart. How ever you do not need to wash your recyclables before placing them in your cart. If necessary, use a spatula or paper towel to remove food from containers. Remember to put the food-soiled paper towel in the trash.
